Ismail Al Huwaitat, PMHNP-BC, board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner

Hello — I'm Ismail.

I'm Ismail Al Huwaitat, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner providing psychiatric evaluation and medication management. My approach is compassionate, culturally sensitive, friendly, and centered on the individual.

I recognize that mental-health concerns can affect relationships, work, physical health, confidence, and everyday functioning. I take time to listen carefully, explain treatment options clearly, and work collaboratively with each person.

I bring more than 14 years of combined experience in ICU nursing and psychiatric practice, and I hold the ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP) certification through Evergreen Certifications. My main focus is ADHD evaluation and medication management, and I also care for people with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Treatment here centers on careful medication management — with honest guidance, including when talk therapy with an outside therapist would also help.

My goal is to provide a comfortable, respectful environment where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to participate in decisions about your care.

My approach to care

Collaborative, respectful, and personal

Good care is a partnership. These are the commitments that shape every appointment.

Listening comes first

Before anything else, I want to understand your story — what you are experiencing, what you have already tried, and what matters most to you. I use motivational interviewing, and when something is hard to put into words, we work through everyday examples together.

You stay informed

I explain options in plain language, including possible benefits, risks, and alternatives, so that decisions are made together — never handed down.

Culturally sensitive care

Your background, values, and beliefs shape how you experience health and healing. They are respected here, and they inform your plan.

Realistic, personal plans

A treatment plan only helps if it fits your actual life. We build plans that feel doable and adjust them as your needs evolve.

Whole-person perspective

Sleep, stress, routines, relationships, and physical health all affect mental health. Care here looks at the whole picture, not just a symptom list.

No judgment, ever

Asking for help can feel vulnerable. You will be met with warmth and respect — wherever you are starting from.
